The Power of the Grade

Colour has the power to shape emotion, influence perception, and transform the way an audience experiences a story.

I'm Rebecca Goodeve, a freelance film colourist and Certified DaVinci Resolve Trainer with more than 15 years of industry experience.

Working remotely from my professional grading suite, on location, or internationally when required, I help filmmakers, brands, agencies, and production companies create visually striking work that connects with audiences and leaves a lasting impression.

Showreel

A selection of projects that have challenged me, taught me something, or simply been a joy to work on.

From independent films and documentaries to music videos, fashion campaigns, and commercial work, each project has brought its own creative puzzle to solve.

Colour with intention

Every project has something to say.

Whether it's a feature film exploring grief, a commercial designed to inspire trust, or a music video driven by energy and rebellion, colour plays a crucial role in how that message is received.

My approach to colour grading goes beyond balancing shots and creating beautiful images. I spend time understanding the emotional journey of a project, the motivations of its characters, and the experience the creative team want their audience to have.

Only then do I begin shaping the visual language that supports and enhances that story. Because great colour grading isn't simply about what looks good...

It's about making people feel something.

Selected Projects

Why Work With Me?

Every project arrives with its own challenges, creative ambitions, and practical realities. There is no single workflow that suits every film, commercial, music video, or campaign, which is why I adapt my approach to the needs of the project and the people behind it.

Some clients arrive with a clear visual reference and a strong creative direction. Others know how they want the audience to feel but haven't yet found the visual language to express it. My role is to help bridge that gap.

I enjoy being involved in the creative conversation, exploring ideas, testing possibilities, and helping refine a look that feels authentic to the project rather than forcing a predefined style onto it.

Whether we're working remotely, in a grading facility, or from a temporary setup on location, I aim to create an environment where ideas can be explored openly, feedback is welcomed, and the focus remains on creating the strongest possible version of the work.

Before and After

Watch the image evolve through the colour grading process.

In this example, you're seeing the progression from the original ARRI LogC footage, through the technical colour management process into Rec.709, before arriving at the final creative grade developed to match the project's visual direction and the client's brief.

Every decision is made to support the story, the cinematography, and the creative vision behind the film.
